Traffic stop leads to arrest of Evansville man on multiple charges.

On June 15, 2019, at 10:35 p.m. Deputy Loren Barchett attempted to stop a White 2000 Chevy Impala that was traveling southbound on Interstate 69 from around the 31 mile marker. Deputy Barchett pursued the vehicle for approximately three miles before the vehicle pulled over. Upon approaching the vehicle officers detected the odor of burnt Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. At that point a roadside investigation was conducted. At the conclusion of the investigation 20 year old Isaiah Smith of Evansville was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Smith was charged with Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Resisting Law Enforcement. He has since posted a $750 bond.

Assisting Deputy Barchett in his investigation was Francisco Town Marshal Michael Collins.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
