GTPD Community Bulletin: Naloxone Distribution Day

Tomorrow Pharmacies across New Jersey will be distributing Naloxone free of charge. People who obtain Naloxone tomorrow, June 18th, will also be provided information regarding addiction treatment and recovery. Providing people with the opioid overdose reversal drug Naloxone for free gives them the tools they need to support their friends and loved ones and to give us every opportunity to save lives and connect people with opioid addiction to treatment. This initiative was spear headed by Governor Murphy’s Administration to combat the opioid crisis.

The Gloucester Township Police Department (GTPD) has seen a reduction in the first 6 months of the 2019 compared to last year in non-fatal overdoses by 30% and fatal overdoses by 40%.

Here in the Gloucester Township Municipal Court we have the Project SAVE Advocate to assist defendants suffering from addiction, their family members, the Municipal Prosecutor, and the Judge with providing information about available treatment programs. The SAVE Advocate also serves as another resource for Gloucester Township Police Department to provide information about treatment programs. We also have a SAVE Support Group that meets on Wednesdays at the GTPD Family Resource Center located at 1324 Little Gloucester Road Blackwood, NJ 08012.
