On June 17th officers responded to the Abbey Woods subdivision reference a vehicle theft at about 1:40 am.  The vehicle was taken from a garage after suspects opened the garage door with a garage door opener from an unlocked vehicle in the driveway.  Officers checked the area and found other vehicles that appeared to have been rummaged through however nothing was taken.

Video shows that two suspects pull up in a white sedan (unknown make/model), exit and pull on car door handles.  Finding an open door, they enter the vehicle and use the garge door opener to locate a vehicle in the garage.  One suspect entered the vehicle in the garage and steals it as it the key fob was in the car.  The vehicle flees area prior to officers arrival.  
 
We continue to remind residents that the Chicagoland area continues to experience vehicle thefts and thefts from vehicles especially during overnight hours from unlocked cars on streets and driveways.   
 
Frankfort Police would like to remind residents to not leave valuables in their vehicle, or at a minimum, move them from plain view. Of course, you should NEVER leave your keys or key fobs in your car and always lock your doors. We ask that if you see something suspicious, anything out of the ordinary or hear anything, such as a car door shutting or a dog barking at an unusual time, call Frankfort Police Department immediately at 911 (emergency) or 815-485-2500 (non-emergency).
