Full Notification

The following closures will be required to facilitate upcoming construction activities on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's I-39/90 Expansion project. Please note that the dates and length of time for each of the closures listed below is different, depending on the work that is being performed. Also note that all closures are weather dependent and subject to change.


• East Milwaukee Street under I-39/90 is scheduled to be CLOSED to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic for bridge construction beginning 6 a.m. Tuesday (June 18) to 6 p.m. Wednesday (June 19). Alternate local routes will be required. No posted detour has been provided.
• County O/Delavan Drive under I-39/90 is scheduled to be CLOSED from 6 a.m. Tuesday (June 18) to 6 p.m. Wednesday (June 19) to remove the old southbound bridge deck. Alternate local routes will be required. No posted detour has been provided.
• Palmer Drive under I-39/90 is scheduled to be CLOSED from 6 a.m. Thursday (June 20) to 6 p.m. Friday (June 21) for bridge staining operations. Alternate local routes will be required. No posted detour has been provided.

Milwaukee Street Closure Affects JTS Routes
The outbound Milwaukee Street Route 5 and Milwaukee Street Special 22PM Route will detour as follows: North on Pontiac Drive past Milwaukee Street; east onto Mt. Zion Avenue; south onto Morningside Drive; and, east onto Milwaukee Street to resume the regular route.

The inbound Milwaukee Street Route 5 will detour as follows: West on Milwaukee Street; north onto Morningside Drive; west onto Mt. Zion Avenue; south onto Pontiac Drive to resume the regular route.

The Nightside East Route 8 will detour as follows: South on Morningside Drive; west onto Mt. Zion Avenue; south onto Pontiac Drive; and west onto Milwaukee Street to resume the regular route.

Palmer Drive closure Affects JTS Routes
The 3: Wright Road and the 8: Nightside East routes will have the following bus stops closed: #227 and 228. The detours for both routes will be as follows: Regular route until Racine and Palmer, continue straight on Racine St, north on Midland Rd, turn left on Midland Crt, turn left on Midland Road, resuming the regular route on Midland Road at the Bio Life Center.

During this detour passengers will not be able to board the bus on Mohawk, Palmer, or on Midland Road north of the Bio Life Center. The closest boarding points will be Racine & Palmer or the Bio Life Center. For questions regarding the JTS detours, please call JTS at (608) 755-3150.

Ice Age Trail Closed at I-39/90 Overpass until Bridge Construction is Complete
As part of the I-39/90 Expansion Project, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be closing the Ice Age Trail under the I-39/90 Overpass beginning Monday, June 17 at 6 a.m. The path will be closed until the southbound bridge construction is complete later in the construction season.

There is a posted detour for the Ice Age Trail along Ruger Avenue to Pontiac Drive to Lexington Drive and the intersection of Mohawk Drive where the trail reconnects.
