Incident: 6 DUI-related Traffic Collisions in the past week
Incident Summary:
Since June 8, there have been 6 DUI-related traffic collision in Petaluma and 3 late night Hit and Run collisions. Late night Hit and Run collisions are usually suspected to be DUI drivers. DUI arrests statistics are about the same as last year with over 100 arrests through early June. The latest collision was early this morning in the 1400 block of North McDowell Extension. Rohnert Park DPS had initiated and then terminated a pursuit of a White 2013 Cadillac Escalade for speeding and reckless driving. The Escalade was last seen taking the US 101 exit and heading north on Old Redwood Highway. PPD units were advised of the information. A PPD unit checking the area in the 1400 block of North McDowell found the Escalade unoccupied with major damage. At approximately the same time an alarm call came in from a business in the same area. Officers thought the driver, who had fled, maybe trying to hide in the business. Officers determined it was the front driver’s side wheel from the damaged vehicle and it had traveled over 150 feet, went through the front window of the business and stopped in an interior wall, causing major damage to the business (See photos).
