Narrative:

On June 14, 2019, at about 4:44 am, residents at a home in the 6000 Block of Harvard St. called 911 and reported that an adult male entered their home through an unsecured window and assaulted a sleeping 20 year old female. The suspect fled when other occupants in the home were alerted.  Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Moorpark and Thousand Oaks Police Stations, including a K-9, as well as the Sheriff’s Department helicopter responded and coordinated a search for the suspect.  During the search, several alert residents in the immediate neighborhood called the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center and reported a suspicious individual who was loitering around their properties.  When deputies located the suspect he attempted to run away. He was caught after a brief foot pursuit and arrested. The suspect was identified as Juan Torres. Deputies located evidence linking Torres to the original burglary call as well as several other crimes in the area mainly consisting of trespasses into unlocked garages.

Torres has a significant criminal past. He was booked into the Ventura County Jail for first degree burglary, false imprisonment, dissuading a witness, several counts of trespass, and being under the influence of methamphetamine. He is also being held in custody in violation of his parole.

Torres’ court date is pending and his bail is $500,000.
