Sheriff Richard J Benhke of the Cass County Sheriff's Office reports that on June 14th, 2019 at approximately 1559 hrs, his Deputies responded to a personal injury crash on M-40 near Brody St in Marcellus Township. Cody Breseman, 26 yr old from Dowagiac, MI, was the driver of the car. James Shannon, 82 yr old from Marcellus, MI, was riding the bicycle. Breseman was traveling south bound on M-40 when his car struck Shannon while he was riding his bicycle. Shannon was injured in the collision and was transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash and Shannon was not wearing a helmet.
