National Night Out - Register Your Neighborhood Today

National Night Out is a crime prevention event sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Santa Clara Police Department.

National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, August 6 from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.and is designed to:

* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships
* Heighten crime prevention awareness
* Generate support for, and participation in, local crime prevention efforts
* Build connections within the community and get to know your neighbors

Neighborhoods participating in National Night Out are asked to join in a city-wide effort to promote a community against crime. Light up your street by turning on outside lights and spend the evening with your neighbors, local Police and Fire Department personnel, City and Santa Clara Unified School District representatives.

Neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events, some event ideas include, but are not limited to:

* Potluck or BBQ
* Ice cream social
* Games and contests
* Block party
* Food or clothing donation
* Picnic or gathering at a neighborhood park or pool
* Plan a clean-up day to beautify a common area
* Heighten disaster preparation awareness
* Set neighborhood goals or discuss neighborhood issues
* Reconnect your Neighborhood Watch Program or make plans to start a group

Be creative. Have fun. Celebrate with your neighbors.

Register your neighborhood event (www.scpd.org - Community - National Night Out). Registration is free and gives Police, Fire, City and School District representatives an opportunity to attend as time and circumstances allow.The deadline to register is July 25, 2019.

Do I have to be part of Neighborhood Watch to participate in National Night Out?

You do NOT have to be a current Neighborhood Watch group to participate. National Night Out is for everyone!

Can I block off my street?

Yes, with approval from the City of Santa Clara's Municipal Services, Business Tax & License Department. A Block Party Application must be filled in writing four weeks in advance. The Block Party Application must include a map of the impacted area. The Block Party application must include a petition signed by all residents located on the street(s) affected by the closing.

I want to have amplified music. Do I need a permit?

Amplified outdoor sound of live or recorded music or other sounds - by more than normal household portable stereo equipment -- requires a permit from the City of Santa Clara. Permits are for single/one time events only.

Permit request forms must be submitted along with payment of the Amplified Music Permit fee at least two weeks prior to the event to the City of Santa Clara's Municipal Services, Business Tax & License Department.Use of amplified outdoor sound outside the hours of 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. requires City Council approval; this process if outside the amplified music permit process and requires more time.
