Traffic Stop Leads to Stolen Firearm

On Friday June 14, 2019 at 12:26 am Officer Barker was on patrol in the area of Kidder Avenue and San Jose Street.  Officer Barker made a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle after realizing that the license plate did not belong to the vehicle it was affixed to.  The vehicle was occupied by 3 individuals.

After further investigation the vehicle was found to be expired past six months and the 16-yr-old driver was unlicensed.  There was an 18-year-old passenger in the front seat and an additional 16-year-old in the rear seat.  The occupants were removed from the vehicle and detained as officers performed an inventory search of the vehicle prior to it being towed.

As officer’s searched the vehicle they discovered a loaded, illegally possessed firearm directly below the front seat where the adult passenger was removed from.  The illegally possessed firearm had been reported stolen out of Sacramento County.

Arrested was 18-year-old Fairfield resident, Xavieon Sibley.  Sibley was booked into Solano County Jail on several weapon violation charges, and possession of stolen property. The 16-year-old driver was issued a citation for driving without a license.  Both juveniles were released to their parents at the scene.

Thanks to Officer Barker’s observations he was able to remove another dangerous, illegally possessed firearm from our streets.
