Wilmington Police arrest two involved in theft of firearm from vehicle

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged two in connection with the theft of a firearm from a vehicle.
 
On May 30 at approximately 6:49 a.m., police responded to the 1700 block of Lancaster Avenue in reference to a theft from a vehicle. Arriving officers learned that a .45 caliber handgun had been stolen from the vehicle.
 
The case was assigned to Detective Charlie Puit of the Criminal Investigations Division. Surveillance footage of the incident, which involved two suspects, was obtained by police.
 
On May 31, police arrested 30-year-old Cedrick Facon, who has been charged with the following offenses:
 

  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Burglary (Third Degree)
  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Theft Under $1,500
 
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.
 
On June 1, Detective Puit was able to identify 20-year-old Nijir Lee as the second suspect. Warrants were obtained, and Lee was taken into custody by the Delaware State Police on June 5 in relation to an unrelated incident.
 
Lee has been charged with the following offenses in connection with this investigation:
 
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Theft of a Firearm
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
 
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and issued $13,000 unsecured bail on the above offenses. He has been committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on an unrelated matter.
