Wilmington Police make two arrests in armed robbery investigation

A Wilmington Police investigation has led to the arrest of two suspects in an armed robbery.
 
On April 30 at approximately 1:35 p.m., police were called to the 3200 block of Franklin Place in reference to an armed robbery that had occurred. Officers learned that two suspects, one armed with a semiautomatic handgun and the other with a revolver, approached a vehicle and robbed the victim at gunpoint.
 
The case was assigned to Detective Justin Kane of the Criminal Investigations Division, and through investigative means, he identified the two suspects as 18-year-old Jamar Jackson and a 15-year-old male juvenile.
 
On May 10, detectives and members of the Crisis Management Tactical Team responded to the 800 block of West 34th Street to execute a search warrant. Police were able to locate the 15-year-old male suspect and take him into custody without incident, also recovering a .22 caliber revolver along with additional ammunition.
 
On June 4, another search warrant was executed in the 200 block of Birch Avenue, and Jackson was taken into custody without incident at that time.
 
The 15-year-old juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
 

  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited (Two Counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
 
The juvenile was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $60,000 cash-only bail.
 
Jackson has been charged with robbery (first degree), possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and conspiracy (second degree). He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $102,500 cash-only bail.
