OSBI INVESTIGATING OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN LAWTON

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 10, 2019

**The following update is based on an ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as the OSBI interviews witnesses and collects evidence. The OSBI’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional witnesses are interviewed and additional evidence is collected and analyzed.**

LAWTON, Okla. – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred shortly before 2 a.m. on June 10, 2019. What follows is what is known at this time:

• The Lawton Police Department was called to a domestic disturbance involving a 19-year-old male and his mother.

• Before officers arrived, the male suspect left the residence with two assault rifles and a handgun.

• The 19-year-old drove to the 6300 block of NW Maple in Lawton.

• Officers were called to the NW Maple location.

• During their encounter with the suspect, three officers discharged their weapons.

• The 19-year-old male is deceased.

• The officers are on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.

Next steps: The OSBI investigation is ongoing. Once it is complete, a report will be written and submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.

There is no additional information to release at this time.
