On June 9th at 1:37 PM, APD officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the 7900 block of W 45th Avenue. A 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by Joyce Venable Shull, a 65 year old female of Amarillo, had been eastbound on 45th Avenue. A 2010 Chevrolet Impala driven by Kinsley Smith, a 24 year old female of Amarillo, had been westbound on 45th Avenue. Shull lost control of the Nissan, crossed over the center turn lane, and struck the Chevrolet head on. Both drivers died at the scene. Justice of the Peace Clay Houdashell has ordered an autopsy on Smith and Shull. Speed is a factor in this crash. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
