On June 8, 2019, at approximately 8:30 PM, the Major Crimes Task Force was partnered with the California Highway Patrol and conducting surveillance in the area of Garey Avenue and Olive Street due to recent gang activity.  MCTF officers observed a vehicle traveling in the area and stop it for a traffic violation.  The driver was Daniel Jimenez, a known Pomona gang member.  During the field interview, officers discovered that Jimenez was in possession of a firearm.  Follow-up investigation was conducted at Jimenez’s residence.  During a search of his home, officers located a Glock 9mm firearm loaded with a high capacity magazine capable of housing 33 bullets at a time inside of Jimenez's bedroom.  The firearm was also discovered to be unregistered.
The Pomona Police Department continues to work hard to remove illegal weapons off the street and out of the hands of gang members, convicted felons, and prohibited persons.
