Hazardous Materials Incident – Shelter In Place Order for Ashtree Ct and Fawn Glen Cr until 11:30pm 6/8/19

The Shelter in Place order for the area of Ash Tree Court and Fawn Glen Cir has been lifted.
The Fairfield Fire Department has issued a shelter-in-place order for residences on Ash Tree Court and Fawn Glen Circle following a structure fire and hazardous materials incident on Ash Tree Ct. All of the affected residences have been notified by Fairfield Police and Fire Department personnel.
The incident began when firefighters responded to a house fire on Ash Tree Ct at 5:00pm. Firefighters learned while fighting the fire that there was approximately 200 pounds of lithium-ion batteries in the garage. The batteries began to emit fluoride gas after being exposed to the fire and water, and that gas escaped into the atmosphere. Three firefighters and one police officer were transported to a local hospital for exposure. One additional firefighter was transported to the hospital with a back injury.
The Solano County Hazardous Materials Response Team is on scene. Ash Tree Court and Fawn Glen Circle are closed to vehicle traffic, and Canyon Hills Drive is closed at Ash Tree Court. Everyone is asked to avoid the area.
Residents within the shelter-in-place area are advised to remain inside, close all windows and doors, and shut off their air conditioning system. If anyone near the area is experiencing shortness of breath, scratchy throat, or itchy skin, they should immediately go to the closest emergency room.

El Departamento de Bomberos de Fairfield ha emitido una orden de refugio en el lugar para residencias en Ash Tree Court y Fawn Glen Circle luego de un incendio en una estructura y un incidente de materiales peligrosos en Ash Tree Ct. Todas las residencias afectadas han sido notificadas por el personal del Departamento de Bomberos y Policía de Fairfield.
El incidente comenzó cuando los bomberos respondieron a un incendio en la casa de Ash Tree Ct a las 5:00 pm. Los bomberos descubrieron mientras combatían el fuego que había aproximadamente 200 libras de baterías de iones de litio en el garaje. Las baterías comenzaron a emitir gas fluorado después de haber sido expuestas al fuego y al agua, y ese gas escapó a la atmósfera.
