Multiple Enforcement Team deputies stop & arrest a documented gang member/probationer in a stolen vehicle

DATE/TIME: Wednesday, June 5, 2019 / 10:39 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 496D(a) – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

LOCATION: Sterling Avenue / Baseline Street, Highland

SUSPECT: Nathan Wendale Waite Clark, 22-year-old resident of Victorville

SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10:39 p.m., deputies assigned to the Highland Police Department Multiple Enforcement Team were in the area of Sterling Avenue and Baseline Street in the city Highland when they observed a silver 2004 Toyota Camry that was reported stolen during a carjacking in the city of Victorville on June 4, 2019.

Deputies contacted the occupants of the vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Nathan Wendale Waite Clark, a documented gang member on active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) with a no bail warrant for his arrest.

Waite Clark was booked into the Central Detention Center and faces charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in Superior Court in San Bernardino on June 7, 2019 to be arraigned for the new charges and June 10, 2019 for a violation of his PRCS.

Felony PRCS probation was created as a result of California Assembly Bill 109 (AB109). As part of former Governor Jerry Brown's Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court Decision requiring the state to lower its prison population; offenders with non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county probation.
