A Los Angeles gang member was arrested for felony evading and possession of drug paraphernalia

INCIDENT: Felony Evading a Peace Officer - Possess Drug Paraphernalia
LOCATION: Baseline Street / Sterling Avenue, Highland
SUSPECT: Brandon Urzua, 33 years old, resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On June 5, 2019 at 4:08 p.m. deputies from the Highland Sheriff’s Station attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle being driven by Brandon Urzua, for a vehicle code violation. Urzua refused to stop and began driving recklessly in an attempt to get away from deputies. Urzua lost control of his vehicle and collided with a power pole and a fire hydrant. He immediately ran away from the scene and hid inside a local business, where deputies took him into custody.
Deputies determined Urzua was a documented gang member from the Los Angeles area and the passenger in his vehicle was a documented gang member from San Bernardino area. Urzua was booked at Central Detention Center on charges of Felony Evading a Peace Office and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
