INCIDENT: ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON/ FALSE IMPRISONMENT

LOCATION: 27400 Block of Outrigger Lane, Helendale

SUSPECT: Ryan Bomgaars, 45 years-old, of Helendale

VICTIM(S): 32-year-old female, resident of Helendale
3-year-old female, resident of Helendale


SUMMARY:

On Thursday, June 6, 2019, at 2:16pm, deputies responded to the report of a domestic dispute in the 27400 block of Outrigger Lane, in Helendale. According to the caller, the suspect, Ryan Bomgaars was not allowing the victims to leave the residence and gun shots were heard coming from the inside the residence.

Deputies arrived at the residence and confirmed the suspect had the victims inside the residence, holding them both hostage. Homes in the immediate area were evacuated to ensure the residents safety and deputies barricaded roads leading to the suspect’s residence.

Bomgaars eventually let the victims leave the residence unharmed but continued to barricade himself inside. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Aviation Division and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded to assist. Multiple gunshots were heard coming from inside the residence. Deputies negotiated with the suspect to exit the house, but he refused. At approximately 9:30pm, SED took appropriate measures necessary to enter the house and take Bomgaars into custody.

Ryan Bomgaars was arrested without incident and booked at High Desert Detention Center. He is currently being held in lieu of $200,000. bail.
