May 27

Burglary and Grand Theft – San Pablo Ave and Carlos Ave:
At 7:47 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed all four tires from the victim’s vehicle and left it on milk crates. The suspect also shattered the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle; however, nothing was taken from the interior.

Shoplifting and Warrant Arrest – El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1:59 pm, an officer reports the citizen’s arrest of a 39-year-old female from Oakland after she stole two bottles of alcohol. The female was booked then released with a citation.

Vandalism – 700 blocks of Albemarle St:
At 11:52 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect fired a BB gun at the front window of a home damaging the window.

May 28

Possession of a Controlled Substance – BART Path and Potrero Avenue:
At 6:38 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 32-year-old male from Alaska. The male passed out on a bench with needles and garbage scattered around him. As officers spoke to the male, a small piece of foil was discovered on his lap. A search of the foil revealed a usable amount of heroin. The male was released with a citation.

Petty Theft – Key Blvd and Liberty St:
At 11:25 am, an unknown suspect removed both license plates from the victim’s vehicle. The theft occurred between 5/20/19 to 5/28/19.
Warrant Arrest – 9937 San Pablo Ave (Crown Bar):
At 7:37 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 41-year-old man who had an El Cerrito PD warrant for his arrest. The man was later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

DUI – Arlington Blvd / Barrett Ave:
At 8:57 pm, an officer reports the arrest of a 43-year-old woman after it was determined she had been driving while under the influence of alcohol. The woman was later released from the El Cerrito Police Department with a citation.

Auto Burglary – 10600 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 10:40 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect broke the front passenger side window to the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The burglary occurred sometime between 8:30 pm and 10:35 pm.

Robbery (Armed) – Potrero Ave / S. 53rd St:
At 10:43 pm, an officer reports the victim was approached by two unknown suspects who demanded property from the victim. The suspects took the victim’s property and struck the victim on the head with a firearm. The suspects were taken into custody later during the evening.

Theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1:12 am, an officer reports the victim inadvertently left her cell phone at the check stand after paying for her groceries. The next person in line picked up the phone and placed the device inside his coat pocket before walking out of the store.

May 29

Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 9:31 pm, an officer reports an unknown woman entered the business, selected several items, and left the store without paying.
May 30

Hit-and-Run – 2500 block of Tamalpais Ave:
At 7:03 am, an officer responded to a hit-and-run collision which took place sometime overnight. A Community Service Officer located the vehicle nearby, and the owner was contacted. The owner admitted to hitting the vehicle and fleeing the scene. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

Stolen Trailer – 3200 block of Carlson Blvd:
At 9:40 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s trailer between 6 pm on 5/28 to 4:30 pm on 5/29.

Theft – 540 Ashbury Ave (El Cerrito High School)
At 6:06 pm, an officer reports the victim’s orange bicycle was stolen from in front of the school sometime between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm.

May 31st

Grand Theft- 5300 Block of Potrero Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole two wheels and tires from the victim’s vehicle sometime during the night of the 30th.

Stolen Vehicle-South 53rd Street /Potrero Ave :
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s Ford E350 van sometime during the night of the 29th.

Grand Theft- Lexington Ave/Blake St:
An unknown suspect stole a catalytic converter from the victim’s Honda Accord sometime during the night of the 29th.

Vehicle Theft- 300 block of Pomona Ave:
During the night of the 30th, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2002 Honda Odyssey.

June 1

Grand Theft- 410 El Cerrito Plaza (AT&T)
At 12:21 pm, several suspects entered the listed business and stole four cellular phones and a tablet which were secured to their displays.
Shoplifting & Parole Violation- 11565 San Pablo Avenue (Walgreens)
At 2:14 pm, store personnel called the ECPD to report a person inside of the business who stole the day prior. Officers arrived on scene and arrested a 57-year-old Oakland man who was also on parole. The man was booked and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence- Conlon Ave/Key Blvd.:
At 3:22, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 39-year-old Oakland man for driving under the influence of cocaine. The man was booked at the ECPD and then released with a citation.

Felony Evading-Westbound I-80 @ Potrero Ave.:
Just after midnight, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a violation. As soon as the officer initiated a traffic stop, the vehicle fled on I-80 at speeds exceeding one-hundred miles per hour. The pursuit was discontinued due to the unsafe speeds.

Theft by False Pretenses-
An officer reports the victim was contacted via telephone in regards to a bogus warrant for their arrest. The caller was able to convince the victim to transfer a large amount of cash into a Bitcoin account so the government could not seize it. Unfortunately, the victim was unable to recover any of the money.
