APD Online and Phone Incident Reporting

With the summer months upon us, the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center tends to see an increase in calls for service. With this rise in calls, callers reporting non-emergency calls or not in-progress criminal offenses could see longer wait times.  All calls are put in order when they come in and all calls are important, but in-progress criminal offenses and emergency calls are dispatched before delayed criminal offense calls.  When there are no emergency or in-progress calls pending, available officers are dispatched to the next report call in line. Your time is important to you and to the Police Department, and because of that, online and phone reporting is offered for anyone who wants to quickly report a non-emergency  or delayed criminal offense report.  Phone and online incident reports can be made directly to the Police Department for the following offenses:

Burglary of Vehicle-Loose Items
Burglary of Vehicle-Parts/Accessories
Burglary of Habitation-Open Garage
Credit Card Abuse
Criminal Nonsupport
Debit Card Abuse
Employer/Employee Theft
Forgery
Harassment
Identity Theft
Interference with Child Custody
Lost Gun
Lost Property
Simple Assault
Theft
Theft of Service
Vandalism

To make a phone report on any of the above offenses, call 806-378-3038 and request to make a phone report with the call taker.  To make an online report, visit the Amarillo Police Department Website and follow the easy steps. Online and phone reports are assigned to an investigator and taken as seriously as reports taken in the field by officers.  In some cases, phone and online reports may be assigned to an investigator more quickly than reports taken in the field, because phone and online reports are immediately entered into our records management system.  An investigator will contact the reporting person if additional information is needed for the case.  By offering online and phone reporting, we are providing another option that could be faster and more convenient for the public.  Submitting reports over the phone or online also greatly assists the Police Department by freeing up officers to respond more promptly to emergency calls and in-progress criminal offenses.
