INCIDENT: Failure to Register as a Sex Offender / Felon in Possession of Firearms
LOCATION: 35100 block of Yucaipa Blvd, Yucaipa
SUSPECT: James Rodriguez, age 66 a resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY:
On May 28, 2019, detectives from the Yucaipa Police Department conducted an investigation into the registration status of James Rodriguez. Rodriguez is required to register as a sex offender pursuant to PC 290. The investigation determined Rodriguez was out of compliance with his registration requirements.
On June 4, 2019, deputies and detectives located Rodriguez at a Yucaipa motel and later conducted a search of the motel room. During the search, deputies located a loaded handgun, a 30-06 rifle, and ammunition. Rodriguez is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
Rodriguez was arrested for his sex registrant violation and for being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. Rodriguez was booked into West Valley Detention Center for failure to register as a sex offender and felon in possession of firearms.
