Illegal Fireworks are Prohibited in the city of Montebello.
Illegal fireworks are prohibited in the City of Montebello. Only “Safe and sane” fireworks purchased in the state of California, from a licensed distributor are legal in Montebello.
Every year we respond to hundreds of complaints of illegal fireworks and unfortunately, we respond on several fires and injuries related to illegal fireworks.
Often time pets are emotionally and often times physically harmed by the loud noises associated with illegal fireworks.
The fine for possessing and/or using illegal fireworks can be as much as $1000 and may result in spending the 4th of July in jail.
If you call the police about illegal fireworks, in your neighborhood, please provide a specific address where the fireworks are being used and a description of the person(s) using them.
Montebello Police Officers will use all the resources available, to locate, identify and cite and/or arrest individuals using or possessing illegal fireworks.
This may include officers traveling the streets undercover and keeping an eye out specifically for illegal fireworks.
