Arrest made in Forestville indecent exposure case

Detectives with the Sheriff’s Domestic Violence Sexual Assault Unit made an arrest last night of a 31-year-old Santa Rosa man for indecently exposing himself to women on the West County Trail in Forestville.

On Monday June 3rd the Sheriff’s Office reported the incidents that occurred twice over the course of last weekend where the man exposed himself to women using the trail. On Sunday morning deputies found the suspect but he ran away and was able to elude capture.

After reading the Nixle advisory on Monday morning, an alert citizen called Sheriff’s Investigations to report that he had seen a suspicious black Mercedes parked on Ross Station Road over the weekend and had taken a picture of the license plate. Ultimately detectives were able to run the license plate and develop a photographic lineup of the vehicle’s owner, Michael Rodd. A victim picked Rodd out of the lineup.

Rodd was located at his workplace in the 10400 block of Gravenstein Hwy North in Forestville at about 5:00 PM yesterday and was arrested without issue on three counts of indecent exposure and one count of evading arrest.

Rodd has a previous arrest in 2014 from South Carolina for indecent exposure. Court records do not show a conviction. Rodd isn’t on probation, parole or a registered sex offender. It’s unclear how long he has been in Sonoma County.

We appreciate the assistance of the public in being alert, reading our Nixle press releases and helping us to solve crimes.
