IMPD Homicide detectives make an arrest in last nights shooting death

INCIDENT TYPE: Homicide Arrest
 
INCIDENT LOCATION: 3700 E. 82nd Street, North District   
 
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) make an arrest in the shooting death which occurred late yesterday evening in the 3700 block of East 82nd Street. 
 
Just before 11:30 p.m., on June 4, 2019, IMPD North District Officers were dispatched to the area of 3700 E. 82nd Street on a report of a person shot.  When officers arrived, they located an adult male who had been shot.  Indianapolis EMS responded and transported the male to an area hospital in critical condition. Despite the best life-saving efforts provided by medical staff, the male victim died from his injuries.
 
Homicide detectives responded and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The MCCO will release the name of the victim once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
 
Detectives worked through the night diligently interviewing witnesses and gathering statements.  Homicide detectives arrested 25-year-old Jean Eyongegbe for his alleged involvement in this incident.  The Marion County Prosecutors Officer will review the case and make a final charging decision.
