Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of May 26-June 1, 2019

Dear Duarte Community:

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 26 through June 01, 2019.        
 
May 26, 2019

  • A Grand Theft Auto was reported at 1131 Central Ave. (Car Max). A 2012 Lexus SUV was stolen from the lot. The vehicle was recovered on May 27 by LAPD, with a suspect in custody.  
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:  While patrolling the area of Westvale Road and Susan Brook Place, deputies saw a motorhome with expired registration and initiated a traffic stop. Upon contacting the adult male driver, it was determined he had an outstanding warrant and was arrested. Prior to storing the vehicle, an inventory check of the vehicle was conducted. During the check, deputies located two glass methamphetamine pipes. The driver was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

  • Violation of a Court Order Arrest:  During the Duarte middle school graduation ceremonies at the high school, an adult female became irate after school administrators and deputies refused her entry due to an active restraining order. After refusing to leave, the female was arrested without incident for violation of a restraining order.  It was later determined the female was arrested the previous day in the city of Pasadena for violation of the same restraining order.         
 
May 30, 2019
  • Dangerous Weapon Arrest:  Deputies were patrolling the 1300 block of Starhaven St., when they observed two males standing by a vehicle, one holding an open container of alcohol. Deputies immediately recognized who they know to be on active felony probation from past contacts. During the detention, a methamphetamine pipe was recovered from one of the males. A “Shuriken” commonly known as “throwing stars” were recovered during a search of the vehicle. The male who was in possession of the methamphetamine pipe, admitted to possessing the illegal dangerous weapons.  After further investigation, he was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The other male was no longer detained.
