A man was shot while driving on State Hwy. 18 in Apple Valley; two suspects are in custody for attempted murder

DATE/TIME: June 3, 2019 / 10:43 P.M.

INCIDENT: Attempted Murder

LOCATION: Kasota Road and State Highway 18, Apple Valley

SUSPECT(S): Derrik McGill, 18-years-old, Victorville resident
Shawn Pope, 28-years-old, Hesperia resident

VICTIM: 24-year old male

SUMMARY:

On June 3, 2019, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department responded to an assault with a weapon call near Kasota Road and US Hwy 18. The 24-year old male victim was driving eastbound on State Highway 18 when, for unknown reasons the passenger of a vehicle traveling in the same direction fired one round at the victim striking him in the hand. The victim drove himself to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was transported to Loma Linda University for serious injuries to his hand.

Both suspects were located in the area shortly after the incident. They were arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Attempted Murder. They are scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on June 5, 2019.
