Marietta Police Arrest Narcotics Trafficker

Marietta Police Department (MPD) Crime Interdiction Unit (CIU), working with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), The United States Postal Inspectors (USPSI) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents arrested a Marietta man with over 23,000 prescription pills, mostly synthetic opioids.

The illegal prescription trafficking operation started several weeks ago when large amounts of pills were shipped from Germany to Marietta Georgia.  Evidence collected suggests that the plan was for the pills to be repackaged for smaller sales here in the United States.  The investigation came to light on Friday May 31st when forty-year-old Don Johnson of Marietta was arrested with thousands of Tramadol (a synthetic opioid) and Soma (addictive muscle relaxant) pills in his possession.  After executing search warrants for Johnson’s vehicle and home, a total of 23,190 pills were confiscated including Tramadol, Soma, Alprazolam and Diazepam.

Residents can rest assured that a prolific opioid drug trafficker has been removed from our community.  The Marietta Police Department would like to thank HSI, USPSI and CBP for their involvement in this multi-agency complex investigation.
