The BPD is alerting residents to a "delinquent collector scam letter regarding property taxes."

The Bedford Police Department and the Bedford Tax Collectors Office is alerting Bedford residents regarding a tax collector scam. The BPD has information that scam letters have been sent out stating that delinquent taxes are owed and unless paid a "Distraint Warrant" will be issued to the debtor(s). The Bedford Tax collectors office will not use a third party to collect taxes on the town's behalf. If there are past owed taxes a certified letter is sent out from the town of Bedford regarding the possibility of tax liens or deeds. A reminder from the tax collectors office that the official tax bills were sent out on May 31, 2019, and are due on July 1, 2019.
