BPD Supports LGBTQ Pride Month

Across our nation, the month of June is officially recognized as national LGBTQ Pride month, a time to recognize and support the LGBTQ community. This year, we will again affirm the Berkeley Police Department's commitment to, and support of, the LGBTQ community within our city, and within our Department, in accordance with our dedication to safeguarding our diverse community, and treating all with dignity and respect.

We are proud to express our support of Pride month and the LGBTQ community through the following activities in June:

We are displaying the Pride flag in our lobby, to convey our Department's support of, and service to, our LGBTQ community. This display will complement the Pride flag being flown from the main standard in Civic Center Park as well.

All employees, sworn and professional staff, may again optionally wear a Pride lapel pin, either on their uniform, or their plainclothes wear. These pins are being provided at no cost to all employees who would like them.

  • BPD is staffing a recruiting booth at the San Francisco Pride Celebration in SF Civic Center on June 30th.
  • All of our employees are welcome and encouraged to march in the parade, in uniform, and employees' family members and children are welcome to accompany us as well.
  • We will have a BPD vehicle in the parade with our marchers, and everyone attending is encouraged to wear their uniform. We had a great time last year, and look forward to seeing Berkeley community members along the parade route this year as well.
