Duarte Crime Blotter for the Week of May 19-25, 2019

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 19 through May 25, 2019.        
 
May 19, 2019

  • An Attempt Grand Theft Auto was reported in the 3100 block of Brookridge Rd. Sometime between 10 p.m. on May 17, and 10 a.m. on May 18, person’s unknown attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle from the street. There appeared to be no signs of forced entry, however, a hanger not belonging to the victim was located on the back seat and the plastic around the steering column by the ignition had been pried off. The vehicle’s on-board computer had also been stolen. The investigation is on-going.

May 22, 2019
  • Domestic Violence Arrest:  Deputies responded to the Mobil gas station located at 2249 Huntington Dr., regarding a domestic violence call. Upon arrival, they located an adult female who appeared to have visible injuries to her neck and face. The suspect was located behind the gas station and was detained. After interviewing both parties and witnesses, the suspect was arrested for domestic violence.  Neither party resided in Duarte.  
 
  • Narcotics Arrest:  Deputies observed a vehicle with expired registration and initiated a traffic stop in the area of Huntington Dr. and Las Lomas Rd. The adult male driver stated he had a license somewhere in his vehicle. The deputies asked the driver to step out of the vehicle in order for them to safely retrieve the driver’s license. Prior to entering the vehicle, the driver told the deputies he had some methamphetamine on the front seat. Deputies recovered a small bindle of methamphetamine from the front seat and arrested the driver. During an inventory search of the vehicle, a small plastic baggie of suspected methamphetamine was located in a bucket in the bed of the truck. The suspect is a resident of Pomona.      
 
May 23, 2019
  • Deputies responded to Target located at 1050 Huntington Dr. regarding a shoplifting call.  An employee noticed numerous cans of baby formula missing from a display. A review of the purchase transactions revealed none had been purchased. While checking video surveillance footage, an adult female was observed the day before selecting $848 cans of baby formula and placing them in a plastic bin she had in her cart. The female then entered the self-check-out aisle and paid for some smaller items, but not the baby formula. The investigation is on-going. 
 
  • Identity Theft Arrest:  Deputies responded to Domino’s Pizza, located at 1802 Huntington Dr., regarding an Identity Theft call. Upon arrival, they contacted an employee who stated they had received an online order and when they called back the account holder, the account holder stated they never ordered any pizza, and resided in the state of Maryland. An adult female and her teenage son arrived to pick up the pizza and were detained. During the investigation, it was determined the teenage son had purchased the Domino’s account online for $3 using his mother’s credit card. After further investigation, both the mother and the son were arrested for identity theft. The mother was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. 
 
May 24, 2019

May 25 2019
  • A report of shoplifting was reported at 1050 Huntington Dr. (Target). An employee noticed a $326 Nintendo Switch missing from a display. A review of the purchase transactions revealed none had been purchased. While checking video surveillance footage, an adult female was observed on May 19 selecting a Nintendo Switch, placing it in her reusable target bag, and walking out of the store without paying for the item. The investigation is on-going.  
 
  • A report of shoplifting was reported at 1050 Huntington Dr. (Target). An employee noticed several bottles of alcohol missing from a display. A review of the purchase transactions revealed none had been purchased. While checking video surveillance footage, an adult female was observed two days prior selecting over $160 of alcohol and placing them in a red Target gift bag. The female entered the self-check-out aisle and paid for some smaller items, but not the alcohol. The investigation is on-going.
