Man Arrested with 94 Folds of Heroin at McDonald’s

South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka announced the arrest of Jamel Tyler, 33 year-old male of North Brunswick, for the possession of 94 folds of suspected heroin.

On June 1, 2019 at 1:57pm a witness reported a disorderly male inside of the McDonald’s (3955 Route 1).  Officer Jason Stonkus arrived at the McDonald’s and encountered a male, Jamel Tyler, sitting in a booth yelling and waving his arms around rapidly.  Tyler was also sweating profusely and breathing heavily.  Due to Tyler’s behavior and physical condition, the Kendall Park First Squad was called to the scene to evaluate his well-being.  After it was deemed Tyler was no longer in need of any further medical attention by the First Aid Squad he continued to speak with Officers.  As Tyler was dealing with those Officers he ignored their commands to remain seated and to keep his hands in plain view.  Tyler continually reached down to his shorts and waist area as he was speaking with them.  Tyler eventually stood up and made fists with both hands and had to be restrained by Officers.  Officer Scott Bucca was able to restrain Tyler’s hands and several folds of suspected heroin were found in the pocket of Tyler’s shorts.  A backpack belonging to Tyler was also searched and a large number of suspected wax folds of heroin were located.  In all, it was determined that Tyler was in possession of 94 folds of suspected heroin.

Jamel Tyler was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  Tyler was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending his first court appearance.

Police Revive Heroin Victim at LaMirage Motel

On June 1, 2019 at 11:31pm Officer Matthew Hagood and Officer Bruce Redfield responded to the LaMirage Motel on Route 1 for an unconscious man in a motel room. When the officers arrived they met the man’s girlfriend who said she found her 35-year-old boyfriend unconscious with foam coming out of his mouth. Officers immediately administered two doses of Naloxone and the man began to breathe normally and then woke up. He was taken by EMS to an area hospital for treatment. This is the 7th case this year were officers have used Naloxone to save a victims’ life.

Chief Raymond Hayducka said, “We will continue to take a comprehensive approach to the heroin problem, from our life saving efforts to enforcement and counseling. The officers did an excellent job in this case and saved this man’s life.”
