Eight-year-old boy seriously injured in DUI crash near Quincy
Near QUINCY, Wash. (02JUNE2019) -- An eight-year-old suffered serious injuries early Sunday due to a one-vehicle DUI crash southeast of Quincy
Responders were called around 12:20 a.m. to the 14000 block of Road 7-Northwest. They learned 36-year-old Bernabe DeLeon Garza of Warden was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 east on Road 7-Northwest when he failed to stop at the stop sign at Road N.5. The Ford crossed through the intersection, went over an embankment, slammed into the bottom of an irrigation canal and rolled onto its top.
Three children were in the back seat and at least one of them was not restrained. One of those children, an eight-year-old boy, suffered a broken back and was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where he underwent surgery. The two other children, an adult female passenger and DeLeon Garza were treated at the scene.
The vehicle was a total loss. Charges against DeLeon Garza are pending.
