Novato Police Investigating Major Injury DUI Traffic Collision
On May 30th, at approximately 9:24 p.m. the Novato Police Department received a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 900 block of Diablo Ave. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that an adult male had been struck by a vehicle traveling east bound on Diablo Ave, in the marked crosswalk at the intersection of George St. The pedestrian sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision, and was transported to a local trauma hospital where he underwent surgery. The pedestrian is a 30 year old Novato resident.
The driver, identified as 29 year old Novato resident Deanna Bowden, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. It was determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and was ultimately arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for felony driving under the influence causing injury.
The Novato Police Departments Major Accident Investigation Team assumed the investigation.
