Lapeer Gasoline/Sewer Incident
UPDATE as of 2:00pm, May 29, 2019
At this time, the City of Lapeer, the Michigan Department Environmental, Great Lakes and Energy (formerly DEQ)and Young's Environmental are currently testing every sewer manhole in the affected area for levels of gasoline vapors. It is anticipated that this testing process will be completed by 4:00pm today. Mitigation efforts assisted by Mersino's are currently underway to contain the believed source of the contamination. At this time we do not have any estimations on when the evacuation of the affected area will be lifted. Monitor this site for further updates.
