Here is an update concerning the potential for severe weather late this afternoon into this evening:

Overview:

An area of low pressure tracking across NY State will send a warm front into the region this afternoon. This
boundary will serve as the focus for showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon into this evening, some of which
may become strong and/or severe.


WHAT:
• SLIGHT RISK/ENHANCED RISK of Severe Weather.

• MARGINAL RISK of Flash Flooding.


WHERE: This will be highly dependent on where the warm front sets up late this afternoon. The best chance for severe
weather at this time appears to be just west of the NYC metro. See Severe Weather Outlook above.

WHEN: Primarily this evening, but could be as early as late this afternoon.

Potential Hazards and Impacts:

Severe Thunderstorms: The main threats associated with any severe storms will be damaging winds and large hail. Isolated
tornadoes are also possible.


Flash Flooding: There is the a marginal risk of flash flooding due to multiple thunderstorms moving over the same area.


Confidence or Forecast Scenarios:

There is moderate confidence in showers and thunderstorms developing late this afternoon into this evening, but there remains
uncertainty with the location and development of severe thunderstorms
