Wilmington Police seize illegal gun, make three arrests

A Wilmington Police investigation has resulted in three arrests and the seizure of a loaded firearm with an obliterated serial number.
 
On May 22 at approximately 11 p.m., members of the Safe Streets Task Force were in the 1100 block of West 4th Street when they initiated a motor vehicle stop on a car with a cracked windshield. As the vehicle came to a stop, one of the back-seat passengers attempted to climb into the front seat. Officers also detected an odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the car.
 
Officers removed the occupants and recovered a 9mm handgun with an obliterated serial number, along with ammunition, a small quantity of marijuana, credit cards in the name of someone who was not in the vehicle and a mask.
 
Police have arrested and charged 18-year-old Greenville resident Clarence Jarman with the following offenses:
 

  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of Marijuana
 
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $9,100 secured bail.
 
Police have also arrested and charged 18-year-old Eddy Peguero with the following offenses:
 
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Possession of Marijuana
 
Peguero was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $8,100 secured bail.
 
Police also arrested and charged a 16-year-old male with the following offenses:
 
  • Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number
  • Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited (2 Counts)
  • Possession of Marijuana
 
 The 16-year-old was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $33,500 unsecured bail.
