IMPD Homicide Detectives make arrest in double homicide from earlier this month

INCIDENT TYPE: Homicide Arrest

INCIDENT LOCATION: 3500 W 16th St

INDIANAPOLIS -  Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives have arrested Terrance Warren (22) for his alleged involvement in the shooting deaths of William Walker (23) and Charles Reeves (42) on 05/11/2019.

Just after 1:00 a.m. on 5.11.2019, officers with the IMPD were dispatched on reports of a person down in the 3500 block of W. 16th Street. Responding officers arrived and located two male victims, later identified as William Walker and Charles Reeves, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the victims dead on-scene.

Homicide detectives responded and immediately began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. During the course of the investigation, probable cause was developed for the arrest of Terrance Warren for murder. Warren was located by the IMPD Violent Crimes Unit on 05/23/2019 and was taken into custody without incident. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a charging decision.

Last year, IMPD announced $35 million in public safety technology investments that continue to pay dividends for the community through efforts like the Indianapolis Crime Gun Intelligence Center — an interagency collaboration focused on the timely collection and analysis of crime gun evidence to identify serial shooters and disrupt violent crime.

Anyone with information about this incident should call the IMPD Homicide Office at 317.327.3475 or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317.262.8477 or (TIPS).  Citizens can also download the mobile P3tips app for Apple or Android phones to submit a mobile tip, or go to www.CrimeTips.org to submit a web tip. This release may be updated as more information becomes available. Information given via Crime Stoppers should be considered anonymous.
