Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a two car personal injury traffic crash on US 12 near Sunset Blvd. in Cass County's Porter Township. This crash occurred on 5-26-19 at approximately 8:35am. Investigation of the crash showed that a west bound vehicle, driven by Erick Prouty (30 yrs of Bristol, IN) was forced off the roadway by an east bound vehicle that was illegally passing another vehicle in a curve. Mr. Prouty attempted to maintain control of his truck, but was unable to do so. His truck exited the roadway and rolled. Mr. Prouty was helped out of his truck by witnesses. The other vehicle involved in the crash did not stop. Mr. Prouty was transported to the hospital via SEPSA Ambulance. Mr. Prouty was wearing a seatbelt.
