May 10th

Grand Theft – 10300 San Pablo Ave:
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s Caterpillar skid steer loader sometime between 5/9/19 at 3:30 pm to 5/10/19 at 6:30 am.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6510 Stockton Ave:
At 5:45 pm, an officer located the skid steer loader that was stolen from 10300 San Pablo Avenue on May 10th. The equipment was located to the rear of the library and was released to its owner at the scene.

Grand Theft – Wall Ave / San Pablo Ave:
A Community Service Officer reports an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s Honda Element sometime in the last three weeks.

Vandalism / Resisting a Peace Officer – BART Path / Gladys Ave:
Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject brandishing a crowbar at the victim. When officers arrived on scene, they contacted a juvenile who was carrying a metal pry bar. The juvenile dropped the pry bar when ordered to do so, and fled on foot. Officers gave chase and took the juvenile into custody.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 1300 block of Devonshire Dr.
A Community Service Officer located a 1995 Honda Accord that had been reported stolen to the San Rafael PD on May 5th.

DUI – San Pablo Ave / Madison Ave:
At 2:00am, an officer made an enforcement stop for a vehicle code violation and arrested a 35-year-old Richmond woman for DUI.

May 11th

Warrant Arrest – Hill Street /San Pablo Ave:
At 8:49 am, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 34-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding parolee-at-large warrant. The man was transported directly to the county jail.

Armed Robbery – S.56th St/ Potrero Ave:
At 1:12 pm, an officer reports as the victim parked her vehicle, she saw three subjects walking towards her. As she got out of her car, she was approached by S1 who demanded her purse. The victim refused, and S1 pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded the purse again. The victim reluctantly gave S1 her purse. Both suspects then fled on foot south on S.56th Street then east onto F Street. The victim gave chase and watched as the suspects jumped the rear fence of 11299 San Pablo Avenue.

Strong-arm Robbery – BART Path / Central Ave:
At 2:43 pm, an officer reports the victim walked with an acquaintance to meet up with his friends. When they met with the friends, the acquaintance and the three unknown males began to assault the victim. They pushed the victim to the ground then punched and kicked him. A bicyclist on the path saw what was happening and yelled at the group. The group then took the victim’s backpack and fled on foot towards the El Cerrito Plaza BART station. The victim suffered some bruising and scrapes and was checked by paramedics as a precaution.

Residential Burglary – 5200 block of School St:
An officer reports between 5:20 pm to 5:35 pm today the residence was burglarized via a bathroom window. Two laptops and a pair of headphones were stolen, valued at approximately $1000.

Assault with Great Bodily Injury – San Pablo Ave / Hill St:
At 8:03 pm, officers were dispatched to IHOP for a report of a male on the ground being assaulted. Upon arrival, the male victim met officers in the IHOP parking lot. The man was bleeding from a laceration above his left eye and had a large knot on the back of his head. The victim claimed he and his girlfriend were followed from somewhere in Richmond, and when they got stuck in red light traffic, they were confronted by the occupants of two SUV’s. Three to four unknown suspects knocked the victim down, then punched and kicked him while he was down on the ground, causing his injuries.

Carjacking / Kidnapping / Fleeing / Hit and Run / Collision – San Pablo Ave / Central Ave:
At 2340 hours, an officer noticed a silver Mercedes sedan traveling southbound on San Pablo Avenue near Moeser Lane at a high rate of speed. The vehicle closely matched the description of a carjacked vehicle from the Oakland PD Amber Alert earlier in the evening. The Amber Alert reported a 3-year-old was in the vehicle when it was taken. The car initially yielded on San Pablo Avenue at San Diego Street, and a felony stop was initiated. Cover officers arrived, verbal commands were given, but the occupant of the vehicle did not respond.
After about a minute, the driver put the car back in gear and fled westbound on San Diego Street with El Cerrito officers in pursuit. The pursuit went southbound on Carlson Boulevard and the suspect vehicle struck a parked vehicle near Adams Street causing the right rear tire of the suspect vehicle to go flat. When the driver tried to negotiate the southbound turn on to San Pablo Avenue, the car collided with the bus stop shelter on the west sidewalk of San Pablo Avenue. Officers were able to pin the vehicle with patrol vehicles to prevent the driver from fleeing again.
The driver, a 23-year-old Oakland man, had the accelerator pedal pressed to the floor and had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle. The child was not in the vehicle but was safely located later by the OPD in Oakland.

May 12th

Vehicle Theft – 1200 block of Norvell Ave:
An officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 2008 green Honda CRV. The theft occurred between midnight on 5/11/19 and 8:38 am on 5/12/19.

Armed Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
An officer reports at 6:25 pm the victim and his passenger were parked in the Safeway parking lot when two suspects approached the car. (S-1) pulled the driver door open and punched the victim while (S-2) reached into the back seat and stole a Louis Vuitton bag containing two iPhones, a wallet, and $1200 cash. When the victim tried to hold on to the bag, one of the suspects produced a black handgun and pointed it at the victim, at which point the victim let go of the bag.

May 13th

Auto Burglary – Norvell Ave/ Stockton Ave:
At 7:24 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect smashed the front and rear drive side windows of the victim’s vehicle. However, there was nothing taken from the vehicle.

Auto Burglary – 600 block of Norvell St:
At 8:43 am, an officer reports that an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a cell phone charger.

Trespassing – 5200 block of Cypress Ave:
At 4:16 pm, the victim was inside a bedroom when he saw three subjects walking in his backyard towards his rear sliding door. The victim yelled at the subjects and they all fled on foot toward the next block.

Warrant Arrest – Fairmount Ave/Lexington Ave:
At 4:36 pm, officers responded to a report of three subjects who used bolt cutters to steal a bike. Officers located one of the subjects nearby. Officers ordered the subject to stop, but the male continued to ride away. Officers were able to block the subject’s path and take him into custody. The subject, a 28-year-old male, was wanted on multiple warrants out of Contra Costa County. The subject was booked and transported to the county jail.

Stolen Vehicle Report – 2300 block of Alva Ave:
At 9:28 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s maroon 1994 Honda Accord. The theft occurred sometime between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm that same day.

Resisting Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Manila Ave:
At 12:35 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 28-year-old man who was arrested after a physical confrontation with officers. The man was taken to a local area hospital to be medically cleared before being transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 14th

Auto Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24 Hour Fitness):
At 1:30 am, an officer reports that the window to four different vehicles were broken and property was stolen from inside.

Battery Upon a Peace Officer – 11511 San Pablo Ave (IHOP):
At 12:36 pm, officers responded to a report of a female who was unresponsive in a bathroom stall. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 46-year-old female who was belligerent. Due to the nature of the call, officers believed the subject was suffering from a medical or mental health crisis. When officers tried to subdue the female, she attempted to spit on officers in addition to trying to bite and grab officers’ private areas. The female was subdued and taken the hospital for evaluation.

Vandalism – 11200 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:09 pm, an officer reports an unknown subject entered an unlocked vehicle in the lot and damaged the interior of the vehicle.

May 15th

Grand Theft – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1:56 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect removed $2570 worth in tools from the maintenance room of a building. There were no signs of forced entry to the area, and only three others have keys to the area.

Vandalism – 6757 Gatto Ave (Canyon Trail Park):
At 11:31 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect used a paint pen to vandalize the outside of the art center and the inside of one of the bathrooms.

Shoplifting – 7022 Stockton Ave (7-11):
At 2:00 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and concealed an item of merchandise before leaving without providing payment.

May 16th

Hit-and-Run with injuries – Waldo Ave /Liberty St:
At 8:26 am, officers responded to a hit-and-run accident. A witness obtained the suspect’s license plate and discovered the vehicle was registered to an address in El Cerrito. Officers arrived at the address and contacted a 55-year-old male who admitted to driving the suspect vehicle. The male was taken into custody, booked, and released on a citation.

Possession of controlled substances and Paraphernalia – 1200 block of Richmond St:
At 11:03 am, officers responded to a suspicious vehicle blocking driveways. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver passed out behind the wheel. An officer contacted the occupants, a 33-year-old male, and a 28-year-old female. A K9 was used to search the vehicle, and the K9 alerted. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed suspected controlled substances, and a pipe used to smoke a controlled substance. They were both booked then released on a citation.

Shoplifting – 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 10:51 am, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and selected a pre-paid cell phone before walking outside and away from the store.

DUI – San Pablo Ave. / Moeser Ln:
At 2:24 am, an officer reports the arrest of a 21-year-old man who was arrested for DUI after several field sobriety tests. The man was transported to ECPD and later released with a citation.

May 18th

Warrant Arrest-5040 El Cerrito Plaza:
An officer responded to a report of a theft of a cell phone from a customer at Mod Pizza. He located a 33-year-old San Rafael woman who matched the suspect description walking near Daiso and detained her. The cell phone was returned to its owner, who did not desire prosecution. However, the suspect had a Marin County warrant for possession of a controlled substance. Booked at the ECPD and cited.

Warrant Arrest-6100 Blk. San Jose Ave:
An officer made a vehicle stop based on warrants issued for the arrest of the vehicle’s registered owner. The driver, a 30-year-old Petaluma man, was not the registered owner but he had his own warrants out of Petaluma. The man was booked at the ECPD and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 19th

Residential Burglary- 100 block of Carmel Ave.:
An officer reports an unknown suspect kicked in the rear door of a residence to gain entry. Upon entry, the suspect stole a Barnes and Noble Nook device. The residents received a call from their alarm company on 5/18/19, around 6:30 pm, but elected not to have the police respond. The residents returned home around 10:30 pm, and discovered the burglary, but did not call the ECPD until the following day.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle-10760 San Pablo Ave (Tap Plastics):
Approximately 3:00 pm, a Corporal located an unoccupied Chevrolet Cavalier that was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department on 4/25/19. The vehicle was processed for evidence and released to the registered owner.

Possess Controlled Substance / Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave / Moeser Ln:
An officer made a traffic stop and arrested the driver, a 53-year-old Richmond man, on a warrant. Approximately 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine was located in the vehicle. The man was booked at the ECPD and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

May 20th

Stolen Vehicle-5500 block Macdonald Ave:
At 6:09 am a CSO reports the theft of a white 2000 Ford Econoline van from in front of a residence address. The van was filled with $2500 worth of Pepperidge farm cookies (victim is a distributor). Occurred between 05/19/2019 at 9:30 pm and 05/20/2019 at 5:45 am.

Residential Burglary-1000 block Villa Nueva Dr:
At 1:00 pm, an officer reports the burglary of a residence. At approximately 12:15 pm, a neighbor saw three subjects running from the residence and entering an older red Chevrolet Suburban. The neighbor could not provide a further description of the suspects. The vehicle fled towards Arlington Blvd. The loss was credit cards, video games, and gaming console.

Vandalism-11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 1:10 am, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a 40-year-old San Francisco man after he threw items around inside the restaurant resulting in a broken plate.
