Man Arrested for Selling Drugs and Endangering the Welfare of a Child
Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested a man following a narcotics investigation in Centereach.
During the course of the investigation, detectives apprehended Chaleek Williams for possession and intent to sell crack cocaine on the playground at the Oxhead Road Elementary School, located at 144 Oxhead Road, with his two-year-old daughter present. Williams was also in possession of a quantity of MDMA. As he was being placed under arrest, Williams became combative and had to be restrained by officers.
Williams, 25, of 62 North Washington Avenue, Centereach, was charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Narcotics 4th Degree, Resisting Arrest, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
Williams will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday.
The child was released into the custody of family.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
