Flash Flood Watch until 10:00AM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar, Dade, Dallas, Hickory, Jasper, Miller, Morgan, Newton, Polk, St. Clair, and Vernon.

* From this evening through Thursday morning

* Thunderstorms are expected to develop across Oklahoma and eastern Kansas this evening and spread into western Missouri. Storms will continue to move across southeastern Kansas and western missouri mainly north of Interstate 44 through Thursday morning. Rainfall amounts across the watch area between one and two inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible. This rainfall will fall on already saturated soils, with residual flooding on going across much the area from heavy rains over the past two days.

* Low lying areas and areas near rivers, creeks and streams will likely become flooded. Urban flooding will likely occur, especially where storms track over the same areas. This additional rainfall will exacerbate any ongoing flooding.
