Police seek public assistance concerning incident near Wildwood Dr. & Eastview Rd. this afternoon

The North Aurora Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance with an incident that occurred this afternoon.

At approximately 1pm today, a 9 year old child walking to a friends house in the Timber Oaks subdivision was approached by a young girl, approximately 9-11 years old, near Wildwood Dr. & Eastview Rd.  The girl was white with brown shoulder length hair, was wearing a light blue shirt, black stretch pants, and was carrying a purple & black backpack and a white plastic garbage back which appeared to have clothes inside.  The girl said she had run away and wanted to know if there was a shelter nearby where she could stay for the night.

The child did not recognize the girl, who ran north on Wildwood Dr.  The child told an adult, who phoned police.  Police responded at approximately 1:02 p.m. and checked the area but were unable to find the girl.

The North Aurora Police Department has not received any reports of missing children recently and is asking anyone with information about this incident to call (630) 897-8705.
