Kelechi Bennett selected as April 2019 PAL / Solano First Federal Credit Union Student of the Month!

Kelechi Bennett selected as April 2019
PAL / Solano First Federal Credit Union
Student of the Month!

Fairfield PAL member, Kelechi Bennett has been selected as the Solano First Federal Credit Union Student of the Month for April 2019.

Kelechi is an eighth grader who attends Crystal Middle School.  She has exhibited amazing behavior, a great attitude, and teamwork at PAL.  She is an active member of the boxing club—and can also be found in the art room or participating in contests and games throughout the center.   Kelechi’s favorite part of PAL is “all the activities” and she likes that there is always a variety of things to do at PAL.  She finds that the boxing program is a great way to relieve stress and enjoys being part of the team.  Kelechi is interested in a career in sports management—perhaps working directly with athletes in physical therapy.

As a new boxer, Kelechi had to learn new techniques and ways of thinking.  Her coach recalls being very impressed with her willingness to hear constructive criticism.  “She doesn’t take things personally.  Instead, she focuses on how to try things differently and improve. She is a great listener.”  Her peers appreciate her positive attitude and find that whenever she is around, there is a better vibe.  Staff love how willing Kelechi is to try new things, and she is welcoming and encouraging to her peers  It is not just that everyone likes her—it is that she can find something likeable about everyone else. She is an  important part of why the PAL Center feels warm and welcoming.

The Fairfield PAL program offers Fairfield, Suisun, and Travis teens a place to grow, learn, and build the skills they need today and in the future. The PAL Center offers teens a safe environment, supports working families and helps students achieve by giving them opportunities right now.

Memberships are $10 per year and can be purchased at the Fairfield Community Center (1000 Kentucky Street) Mon-Thursday between 11:30-5:30pm. A current student ID is required to register.
