New K9 Joins The Milpitas Police Department K9 Unit

He's already been making his rounds throughout the city at public events and you may have seen him in our social media posts but today we'd like to formally introduce you to one of our new K9s...Nitro.

Nitro is a 1-1/2 year old male Belgian Malinois and was born in France on November 11, 2017. As a pup, Nitro heard the stories about how brave the police dogs in the U.S. were and knew that was the job for him. He made his way to the U.S. in January 2019 where he met his new best friend, Officer Brasil. The two quickly became friends, worked hard at K9 school, and started patrolling the streets of Milpitas in late February. When he's not working, Nitro enjoys spending time with Officer Brasil and training with his friends Ty and Kona.

Officer Brasil has been a Police Officer with the Milpitas Police Department since September 2015 and is currently assigned to Patrol Services Division. In addition to being a K-9 Officer, he is also a Field Evidence Technician and a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE). When he is not at work, he enjoys working on cars and spending time with his family.
