Man and Woman Charged with Negligent Homicide in Death of 3-Year-Old Boy

On May 11, 2019, around 1 p.m., Jackson police responded to a shooting inside an apartment on Preston Street in Allenton Heights housing complex. A three-year-old boy was found with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injury.

Investigators processed the crime scene, collected evidence and interviewed witnesses. Based on the investigation, the child’s mother Linda Arrington, 25, the child, and her boyfriend, Antonio Dancer, 43, lived in the apartment. Dancer and Arrington were both under the influence of drugs while the child was left unattended. He found a handgun that was not properly secured and shot himself.

Dancer and Arrington were both charged with Negligent Homicide and Dancer was additionally charged with being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

They were both arraigned May 14 in Jackson City Court. Dancer was set a $50,000 bond and Arrington was given a $35,000 bond plus a hold for a Failure to Appear on an unrelated charge. Both are being held at the Madison County Jail.
