Two years later, DNA evidence identifies the suspect in a residential burglary

DATE/TIME: May 10, 2019

INCIDENT: Burglary

LOCATION: 35000 block of Juniper Ave / 34000 block of Acacia Ave, Yucaipa

SUSPECT: Carlos Vicente Ojeda, 28 years old, Yucaipa resident

SUMMARY:
During January of 2017, deputies responded to the 35000 block of Juniper Ave for a reported burglary. Investigation showed an unknown suspect gained entry into the residence and stole the air conditioner worth over $1,000. Deputies located and collected physical evidence from the scene. Approximately two years later, that evidence led to the identification of 28-year-old Yucaipa resident Carlos Ojeda as the suspect in the burglary.

An arrest warrant was issued for Carlos and detectives from the Yucaipa Station located him at his residence on Acacia Ave. Carlos was arrested and booked into Central Detention Center for burglary and is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail.
