INCIDENT: Fatal Vehicle Collision

LOCATION: Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive, Victorville


SUMMARY: On May 13, 2019, deputies from the Victorville Police Department’s, Traffic Division responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies determined a Honda sedan was traveling south on Amargosa Road. As the vehicle proceeded through the intersection at Mojave Drive, on a green light, it was struck by a Ford SUV. The Ford had been traveling north on Amargosa Road when for unknown reasons the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Mojave Drive, crossing into the path of the Honda.

The male driver of the Honda was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver and passenger in the Ford were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, as a precaution.

The intersection of Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive will be closed until approximately 5:00 pm, while deputies conduct the investigation.
