INCIDENT: Assault with Firearm
LOCATION: 20600 block of Zuni Rd
SUSPECT: Pedro Murga, 69-year-old-male, of Apple Valley
VICTIM: Jary Murga, of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On Saturday, May 11, 2019, deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff's Station were dispatched to a report of an assault that occurred in the 20600 block of Zuni Road in the Town of Apple Valley. Deputies were told a male subject at the location was brandishing a firearm.
Deputy Griego arrived on scene and learned the suspect, Pedro Murga, had pointed a handgun at the victim. The victim, who was in fear for her life due to previous disagreements with the suspect, began struggling with the suspect for the firearm. The victim called out for her mother, who was inside the residence, to help her. The victim's mother came to her aid, and the two females were able to get the firearm away from the suspect before he fled from the scene.
Deputies began looking for the suspect in the area and were able to locate him. Pedro Murga was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center on charges of assault with a firearm on a person. Murga later posted bail and was released.
