Narrative: | |||||
On May 4, 2019, Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit coordinated an enforcement operation aimed at combating illegal narcotics and related activities in the coastal communities of Ventura County and surrounding neighborhoods. Deputies contacted and arrested Isaac Teran and Miguel Ortiz for illegal firearm possession. On May 4, 2019, at approximately 11:50 AM, deputies were conducting directed enforcement in the area of Harbor Boulevard and Meridian Way in the City of Oxnard. This area is a short distance from the Channel Islands Harbor and Hollywood Beach community. Deputies observed a vehicle being driven in the area and conducted an enforcement stop on the vehicle for a vehicle code violation. Deputies contacted four occupants, including the driver Isaac Teran and front passenger Miguel Ortiz. Both Teran and Ortiz have ties to a local criminal street gang. Teran’s ten year old son and a fourth male adult were also inside the vehicle. Deputies determined Teran was on active Ventura County probation with search terms. Deputies ordered all the occupants out of the vehicle in order to conduct a probation search. During the search, deputies located a loaded revolver underneath the front passenger seat. The serial number had been partially altered, but deputies were able to conduct a records check and determine the revolver had been reported stolen from Orange County. Based on the investigation, both Teran and Ortiz were arrested for illegal firearm possession and street terrorism charges. Teran was also arrested for felony child endangerment. Teran’s son was released to his mother. Teran and Ortiz were both booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for various charges and are awaiting criminal proceedings. |
