POMONA RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT RIFLE AND NARCOTICS BY THE SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT
On Friday, May 03, 2019, the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) assisted by the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) served a search warrant at 371 French Ln, in the City of Pomona. During the execution of the search warrant, the Police Department’s airship spotted a subject running from inside the residence toward the backyard holding a baggie. The subject discarded the baggie into a neighboring yard then ran back inside the residence. Unbeknownst to the subject, the Police airship was observing the subjects suspicious behavior. Officers were directed into the neighboring yard where the baggie was discarded. Officers were able to locate the baggie and discovered it contained a substantial amount of suspected narcotics.
The Special Investigations Unit was able to safely negotiate the surrender of all the occupants of the residence, to include the subject that was observed discarding the baggie. Once all the occupants were detained, the subject observed by the airship was positively identified as Christopher Caprilli, a 37 year old Pomona resident. Caprilli was placed under arrest for possession for sales of narcotics, in addition to outstanding arrest warrants.
Once all the occupants were detained, SIU and MCTF conducted a thorough and systematic search of the residence. During a search, a 12 gauge shotgun belonging to Suspect Caprilli was located. Following the service of the search warrant, the remaining occupants were released on scene. Caprilli was transported to the Pomona City Jail where he was booked under his respective violations.
Additional evidence located inside the residence led officers to a follow-up investigation in the 1300 block of Sierra View Dr, in the City of Glendora. During that follow-up investigation, officers recovered an AR-15 assault rifle and a .22 caliber lever-action rifle. The firearms were linked to Suspect Caprilli. A felony complaint on Suspect Caprilli for possession of an assault rifle will be submitted to the District Attorney’s Office.
